WAYHA Coaching Information & Application Process
** Please follow the steps below to become a coach for WAYHA. All necessary steps must be completed to be rostered on a team as a coach or help with any on ice activities. Once all requirements are met you can submit all your certification receipts for reimbursement by WAYHA. Please send all receipts at one time no later than January 31 to treasurer@winonahockey.com.
Step 1. WAYHA Coaching Application
Click Here to complete the application to become a coach for WAYHA. This must be completed to be considered for a head or assistant coaching position. This does not guarantee that you will be selected for a coaching position. Final coaching positions will be determined after official teams have been formed. Step 2. USA Hockey Member Registration
Click Here to complete your membership with USA hockey to become a coach. You will need to Save your confirmation code for additional steps. There is a USA Hockey fee for membership registration.
Step 3. USA Hockey Background Screening
Click Here to begin your background screening. Background screening for coaches is valid for two years and must be completed prior to participating in any on or off ice for training\game activities associated with WAYHA. There is a USA Hockey fee for Background screening.
Step 4. SafeSport Training
Click Here to begin your SafeSport Training. This is a free on-line training program that is valid for one year. There is a required refresher course each season and must be completed prior to participating in any on or off ice for training\game activities associated with WAYHA. Your USA Hockey confirmation number is required to sign up for this training.
Step 5. USA Hockey Foundation Development and Age Specific Modules
Click Here to begin your Foundation of Player Development and Age Specific Modules. These modules need to be completed only once and must be completed prior to participating in any on or off ice for training\game activities associated with WAYHA. There is no fee for the Foundation of Player Development Module, but USA Hockey charges a fee for each Age Specific Module.
Step 6. MN Hockey Concussion Training
Click Here to download the required concussion training form and how to obtain training to complete this form. Concussion training is good for two years. The completed form and certificate of completion must be submitted to registrar@winonahockey.com. Concussion Training must be completed prior to participating in any on or off ice for training\game activities associated with WAYHA.
Step 7. USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (CEP)
Click Here to find and register for a level 1-4 CEP Hockey clinic. All coaches must start at Level 1 and continue each year until they reach Level 4. Levels 1-3 are good for 1 year and Level 4 is good for 3 years. U6\U8 coaches can coach with an expired Level 1 CEP certification. More information can be found on the USA Hockey CEP website. CEP Certification must be completed by December 31. Failure to complete will result in immediate removal from the team roster and you will not be able to continue with on\off ice training and games associated with WAYHA teams. No exceptions. There is a USA Hockey fee for CEP courses.
Step 8. W-9 Form
Click here to complete on-line download the W-9 form. This form is required by WAYHA for coaches to be paid or reimbursed. Please download and complete the form and send to treasurer@winonahockey.com
Step 9. Coach’s Code of Conduct
Click here to review and sign the WAYHA coaches code of conduct. Once completed please send to registrar@winonahockey.com. The Coach's Code of Conduct must be completed prior to participating in any on or off ice for training\game activities associated with WAYHA.
